This new feature only applies to Pages that have a cover photo. For Page admins that have already filled out the “description” section under the “about” tab, you may have noticed that text has automatically appeared embeded into your cover photo. If this feature is available to your Page, you can click on your cover photo and an “edit” option will appear in the bottom right corner of the photo.
Your cover photo is one of the first impressions made on your visitors. This new feature is an opportunity to share information that visitors would typically have to go to your About page to find, the mission of your group or business, or a place to highlight your key assets. While this feature has strong visual components, its full potential has not been fully unveiled in its early stages. There is speculation that this could be another factor into SEO, sorting your Page amongst the relevance of other similar Pages during a user’s quick search.
The new feature provides a different aesthetic on different devices. The embedded text seems to flow nicely on a desktop. However, on mobile devices, the text seems to be a bit loud and overbearing, at the time of this feature launch. Facebook is in the beginning test stages of the feature and we are sure to see new improvements in weeks and months to come so that you can better maximize your Page’s Facebook presence.
