- Make Sure It’s Turned On. As silly as it sounds to start with this advice, you’d be surprised. Make sure the printer is connected and has electricity. Often there are two parts to the cord - printer to box and box to outlet. Check to make sure all of the parts are connected and your power light is illuminated.
- Turn the Printer Off/On and Same with the Computer. This simple reboot can sometimes restore the connection between the two devices and allow for printing again.
- Double Check Your Connection Type. Printers, especially new ones, can be connected using a USB connection or wirelessly for your printing capabilities. Make sure you’re connected to the right one.
- Try Uninstalling and Reinstalling Your Printer. Sometimes the printer driver needs to be updated and the connection needs to be rebooted. In this instance, remove the printer from your computer and reinstall it (on an Apple use the + in Printers and Scanners setting and on a PC use add/remove devices).
