To add to the latest buzz, Mark Zuckerberg addressed the topic last month at Facebook’s annual conference, F8. Zuckerberg began his presentation announcing that Facebook plans on making the camera in your phone the first augmented reality platform. The presentation can be viewed here. As Facebook positions themselves to be the industry leader in the VR/AR space, we can’t help but think about the future of social media and what this type of technology can do for businesses and their consumers.
While it’s nearly impossible to predict future digital marketing and technology trends, we do think virtual and augmented reality will fundamentally change the way we view social media and change our overall lifestyles in the years to come.
So the question then becomes, ‘as a business, how can we adopt new technology before everyone else?’
