What’s up with the cloud? And where Is It? And should I use it?

Are you in the Apple iCloud or the Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive or Dropbox or somewhere else completely? Do you have bits and pieces of information in each one like I do? Have you wondered about all of these clouds that emerge and continue to keep asking you for your business?

There are so many questions about cloud storage and choosing the best option for you. I’ll be honest: there are pluses and minuses to each one and not one is perfect. Does RyTech resell Google for Work so that businesses can have the opportunity to use cloud storage for email, collaborate, and share? Yes, it’s the closest that we’ve found to ideal for small and mid-sized businesses as well as schools, but it’s certainly not the only game in town.

When choosing a cloud, I’d recommend the following three questions for you to investigate:
  1. What is your purpose for the cloud and what do you plan to store? (i.e do you want a cloud for documents, pictures, all of the above?)
  2. What options are included for basic storage capabilities and how much does it cost to expand?
  3. Has the brand/company been operating for a longtime? If so, what have users said about the storage components? Read the worst and see if you can live with it!
The information is stored in a cloud storage system so that it can be accessed anywhere with internet access. Unlike popular thought, these clouds and your data are actually not stored up in the sky. Rather, the data is stored on a series of complex and redundant servers owned and operated by the respective companies. These servers are robust, have large back up systems, and a significant level of security to prevent hackers from accessing important data and information. Your data might be stored in one state, but odds are there are even more servers with your data across the country or even the globe!
